We were asked to design & manufacture a new broadcast studio desk for the main news studio. At Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation. This involved designing the desk, building the in the workshop based in the UK. Then shipping the desk to Gibraltar. We sent a team of skilled carpenters to install.
From the completion of the signed off construction drawings. We proceeded to build the bespoke desk. This included building a template of the actual size of the desk in the workshop. It is important that the presenters sitting at the desk feel comfortable and the space between the presenter and guests is worked out in advance. So pre-building is essential to do, prior to shipping and installation. We also built castor wheels. Making it easy to move the desk around the TV studio.

The LED within the desk had to be concealed. We did this by feeding the electrical cabling through the base of the desk with a trap door. Making it accessible for the crew onsite. We used RGBW colour changing LED lighting. Which is good for branding the GBC colours.
GIBRALTAR NEWS LIVE IN THE STUDIO
GBC News LIVE. Looks pretty good with all the camera angles & video walls. This desk was built at the perfect height. Its also a good idea to check the studio dimensions. To make sure the desk fits into the studio space. A site survey is a must to building any sets. Even with distance its crucial you do the calculations. All the LED from the studio is fed back to the studio gallery. So remote control of the studio lighting & video walls is a must. This desk is good for 1 x presenter & two guests. The flooring is finished in black studio vinyl. So wheeling the cameras & desk in and out of the studio will not mark the floor.
